In the spirit of this auspicious day, we rank the good Star Wars movies, shout out our favorite Expanded Universe entries, compliment George Lucas, explain why Jar Jar might just be better than Chewie, and Evan passes a Star Wars QUIZ!

...Wait, what was that fourth one?

To find out, watch Hard Truths with Doug and see if you don't view everyone's least favorite Gungan in a slightly different light.

And if you want to see these quizzes for yourself, find them here:

We get into close encounters of all kinds this week on The Lucky Ten Thousand. Well, really just the alien kinds. UFOs, extra-terrestrials, string theory: it's all here. Come with us on a universal adventure. We promise not to anally probe you. Unless you're into that.

Recorded live in Evan's studio, our intrepid hosts are back together again in a face-to-face encounter of their own for the first of a series of very special episodes from the Bearded Pods Network. Stay tuned for more!

Evan was the last person on Earth to watch Firefly and now he gets to share with us the joy of being the lucky one.  Lamentable as the show's premature cancellation is (damn you, Fox!), most of us have had the better part of a decade to mourn its loss while he is finding himself in the throes of new grief. Like most of us, the only closure he can really find is from incessantly going over all the great things we can only ever enjoy on rewatching.

You can't take the sky from me.

You know all those "little details" movie and tv producers just get WRONG? The ones that make your otherwise enjoyable movie or tv show slightly less enjoyable - or worse, downright unwatchable? Yeah those. This week we bring back fan favorite friend of the show Winston to help us ruin your movies for you by pointing out all the things in some of our favorite (and least favorite) productions which the makers just screwed up. Covering editing mistakes, historical inaccuracies, and just plain fuck-ups, we leave no sacred cow untipped.

What are your pet peeve mistakes from movies or TV? Email us, tweet at us, or leave a 5-star review to have your grievances aired.

Humans are portrayed in most extra-terrestrial science fiction as puny, weak, insignificant, and utterly outclassed by any and all offworld explorers who happen upon them. This week, Carissa and Evan ask: what if humanity isn't a pile of crap but is, instead, terrifying and bewildering to our galactic neighbors? Maybe we are the horror movie villain of ET's nightmares, and we set out to explain why we might not be the primitive hairless apes of most modern science fiction.

Humanity! Fuck yeah!

After a quick recap of the sad events of this past week, Evan and Carissa get to talking about robots. We cover the adorable NAO, the nightmarishly trippy Deep Dream, Asimov's Three Laws, sex bots, and much much more.  Basically, it's everything you will need to know about the future of robotics. You're welcome!

Christmas is nigh, and our hosts take this opportunity to reach into the stocking and pull out all the random goodies they can find. We talk SPOILER-FREE about The Force Awakens, wax cautiously optimistic about the Warcraft movie, rant about the (not-so) casual racism in the prequels, contemplate fun things to do with Harry Potter's wang - er, wand - and have some general silliness with Star Wars Mad Libs.

Big shouts out to the gents at the Wikishuffle podcast and to the nerdcore group 2d6.

We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

For our 20th episode, we invite a special guest to help us hash out an age old question: If Star Wars and Star Trek met in an epic battle, who would win? The answer may surprise you. The answer may enrage you. No matter how it turns out, we think this is one of the better conversations on an oft-debated nerd standard.  Let us know what YOU think!

Thanks to long-time listener and friend of the show, Winston, for joining us on this one.
