In our final Very Special Episode, we join Teddy and the Bassman once again for a grand two-parter. This time, we play a couple more standard games. In our episode, hear us try to outwit the great sayings of the ages in Wise and Otherwise, then listen to T&tB's half where we play everyone's favorite awful game: Cards Against Humanity.

When there are tigers on the hill...

We are right chuffed to be joined this week by the Bearded Pods' very own Trevor Furlong, formerly of Scotland Yard and present acclaimed bassman of Teddy and the Bassman. In the first of what will hopefully be several appearances, our guest shares his experiences as a stranger in a not-terribly-as-strange-as-you'd-think land. Our talk ranges far and wide, touching Cockney rhyming slang, immigration culture shock and the lack thereof, imported television, subtle differences in humor, and more. Anglophiles like Carissa will not want to miss this episode.

After you finish here be sure to check out Trevor and Teddy's podcast, Teddy and the Bassman, another fine production found on the Bearded Pods Network.

Attention grammar nerds and logophiles: this one's for you! Reformed grammar nazi Carissa opens up her ever-expanding list of adult vocabulary words to share them with Evan - and you, our faithful listeners. Evan, in turn, shares a very few choice examples of the words with which Shakespeare graced us. We even toss in a few from across the seas, because what would a talk about English be if it didn't include some linguistic pilfering? This is an episode far shorter than it could have been, all about the collection of sounds which make up the lovely, thieving, sadomasochistic English language.

It's back to school this week, and we join in with a primer on internet jargon.  Covering the sites you need to know to get started, the sites you need to know to avoid, and the slang which peppers dialogue across the web, consider this Internet 101.  Carissa teaches Evan the very basics to some small degree of success.

Do you feel more like an internet tourist than a native?  Here is your "dónde está la biblioteca" course.  Are you an old-school 'netizen' (ugh) who speaks 'net like a milk tongue?  Take a listen as a refresher, or just enjoy hearing someone else learn the language.  More than any other so far, this show exemplifies what the Lucky Ten Thousand is all about: we don't judge or condemn you for not knowing; we just want to share.

Class is now in session!
